Studying

So busy with my studies
Too many words
My brain being fried
I need to take refuge

From endoplasmic reticulum
To Shakespeare’s Hamlet
I've so much to learn
And not enough time

I read all the books
Eyes scanning the details
Nothing much going in
Backup brain is needed

Looking at Life

Our two kids happy
Running around the garden
Having fun after preschool

Sitting watching them
With a carling in my hand
Life just seems right

Drinking to avoid
The allurements of life
That I revolve around

Just trying to cope
With all that life brings
Life is a rollercoaster

The Election

They act like lions
Stalking their prey
Proving they are manly

They stand on their altars
Wanting us to bow down
And kiss their feet

They wish for concurrency
Relating to their ideas
Fighting for a reinstall

Why should we vote?
What’s our prize?
More fighting and failed plans?

I Mourn

Beside my bed
On the night-stand
Is a picture of you
I cannot forget you

I stand at your grave
My eyes filled with tears
As I mourn the loss
Of my little adventurer

You are always with me
In my mind
Unbearable pain
Like a skewer to the heart

An empty meadow

An empty meadow
Grass growing wild
Daffodils blooming
And daisy’s everywhere

A pretty sight
Colourful and bright
In comes a lamb
All new and innocent

Running through the grass
A spring in his step
Enjoying the sun
And frolicking in the grass

Here comes his friends
All wanting to play
Once an empty meadow
Now a play park for the lambs

Champagne Supernova

Champagne Supernova
Playing on the radio
Driving down the freeway
Left-hand playing the air drum

The sun is shining
Friends are with me
Drink is flowing
Not good for some

Vomit on the floor
Smell is real putrid
Then the earthquake comes
And the car is all a tremor

Unspoken Promise

Unspoken Promise

You and I
Together
An unspoken promise
Of forever

Never be alone
Always you and I
Together
For always

From birth
To death
United as one
Never apart

Love always
It’s unconditional
Thank you
For all love received
