The King

The earth is pure
And the world a creation
But who does it belong to?
I hear you ask

Do the animals rule the world?
Or is man the King?
Do the rivers and seas rule?
What about the valleys and mountains?

These are all part of creation
The foundation of the earth
For us to dwell in
Made by the King of Glory

Can we ascend the hill?
And stand by the mighty?
Are we pure enough in heart?
And truthful in tongue?

Can we receive the blessing?
And seek the face of the King
And let him come in
Through the gate to our heart

Shall we let the King In?
The one who is strong
The one who is mighty
And will fight with you in battle

The Past

Tears trip my face
When I think of the past
All the things I did
And all the things I said

I was not a perfect person
And I am still not
I have flaws like everyone
With holes in my soul

I try to be a better person
But I am not always on target
Which can cause upsets
That leaves me feeling shame

But yet you are still there
Still by my side
Even if it’s tough for you
But it is because you love me

Love that is always there
No matter what I do
Which makes me feel guilty
When I think of what I’ve done

But the past is in the past
Used to be is dead
Tomorrow is another day
I just need to move on

I need to accept the truth
To believe in me
To believe in you
And all you have done for me

You have never left me alone
And I know you never will
I hope you also know
I am always here with you

You

You are always there
Even when I am lost
You come and find me
To bring me home

When I feel low
And not worthy
You smile at me
And tell me you love me

When life gets too much
You take my hand
And sit me down
 Tell me to rest

When I am weary
And can’t go on any longer
You give me the strength
To continue the journey

When I am scared
And not wanting to be alone
You show up at my door
And invite yourself in

When I feel insecure
And doubting in myself
You tell me it is ok
You are by my side

When I was broken
You patched me up
And I know if I break again
You will do the same

You are always there
Just at the right time
Even when all I need is a hug
Your arms are open wide

The Shepherd

Look at him, how cute is he
Sitting in the field
Just eating away at the grass
With no worries at all

He is safe in his field
With all his little friends
And all the grass they can eat
As the shepherd watches over them

He has no want for water
As the river runs close by
Which refreshes his body
And calms his soul

He is not afraid of anything
Day and night he is watched over
Even if evil comes his way
There is no need for him to fear

He knows the shepherd is close by
With his rod and staff
Looking out for him
And giving him comfort

Changes

I was doing ok
Well in my opinion anyway
But it seems you disagreed
As you swept into changing me

Everything was okay
Well I suppose I was troubled
Struggling to cope
With third culture re-entry

I was on a bumpy path
Which became full of rocks
As things became worse
And my life turned upside down

I felt so alone
But realise now I wasn’t
As you were always with me
Standing by my side

My life as I know it was over
Things would never be the same again
Changes were happening
I had to learn to live a new

But it was all in your hands
You knew what you were doing
You helped me develop
Into the likeness of you

You helped me to grow
Into the fullness of my potential
Showing me new ways to live
That helped me to be free

I See You

Where are you?
I need you right now
To break my fall
And help me up

I am right here beside you
Maybe you can’t see me
But I am here
Just trust me

If you are with me
Why can’t I see you?
Why can’t I feel you?
Please don’t leave me alone

I am not going anywhere
I am hiding your heart
And joining you on the steps
As you sit and weep

Why does it hurt so much?
Why is the road so bumpy?
I can’t walk steadily
My feet always stumble

I see your pain
And will catch your tears
When you cry
And hold them close to me

Why do you care about me?
Why waste your time?
I am not worth it
I am just a lonely soul

To me you are everything
You are worth it
So just trust me
And draw close to me

I am not sure I can
I don’t feel strong anymore
Fear overcomes me
And my heart is heavy

You are more than able
Lean on me for strength
Do not be afraid
I have your heart in my hand

The Creator

The heavens sing
And the skies rejoice
Day brings light
While night gives us rest

There are no words
Which are greater
Than those which shot loud
To all the ends of the earth

Like a groom waiting
And an athlete training
The sun is shining
Giving heat to the world

Our souls are revived
The simple are wise
We need to rejoice
And enlighten our minds

We should not fear
As love endures forever
All is true and righteous
Even better than gold

We are not innocent
We all have faults
Which burden our hearts
And bring us down

Help me to grow
Make my heart our
And my words truthful
O rescue me from the dark
