In darkness I was standing
There was a hole in the ground
One step the wrong way
And down I would have fallen
Your hand reached out to me
Dark though it was
Blind I was not
Your hand I did see – and caught
You got me out of the miry clay
And led me back to dry ground
You fought my corner with the enemy
And got my story told
You rescued me from despair
And taught me there was hope
You led me to the eternal thought
That glory lies ahead
The battles are now and glory after
But hope we must never forget
And trust we always must do
As times will change when the light shines anew
My corner was fought again
This time a much bigger rock
Was needed to overcome
And twice this was done
But you conquered the rock
And rolled it away
So I could continue my walk
Down a non bumpy road
My thanks go out to you
And without your kindness
I would not be here
As drowning I would be
But you rescued me, caught my hand
And brought me back to dry land
I am truly grateful to you
And in my heart you will always be
